Black Velvet Cake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 1 cup granulated sugar
02 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
03 - 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
04 - 2 tablespoons black cocoa powder
05 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
06 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
07 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

→ Wet Ingredients

08 - 1/4 cup vegetable oil
09 - 2 large eggs
10 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
11 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
12 - Black food coloring gel or paste
13 - 1 tablespoon white vinegar
14 - 1 cup buttermilk

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
02 - Cream the butter with sugar until light, then mix in oil, eggs, vinegar, and vanilla.
03 - Gradually add dry ingredients with buttermilk, alternating. Stir in food coloring at the end.
04 - Split batter between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until fully baked.
05 - Let the cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes. Move them to a rack to cool completely.

# Notes:

01 - Use extra black food coloring if you want a really dark cake.
02 - Tastes great with whipped ganache or cream cheese frosting.
