Set the oven to 350°F (177°C). Cover the base and sides of an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper.

Heat butter in the microwave until it’s liquefied, about a minute. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes until it feels warm but not hot.

In a bowl, blend together the flour, salt, and baking powder.

Whisk melted butter with brown sugar. Stir in the egg, mashed banana, and vanilla until smooth.

Slowly add dry ingredients into the wet mixture while stirring. Mix in most of the chocolate chips, keeping a handful for the top.

Pour the mix into the pan and sprinkle the reserved chips on top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking with a toothpick to make sure the middle is cooked.

Once completely cooled, lift out the dessert using the parchment. Slice into portions.
